The Little Engine Tag

Hey y’all, I was so very generously nominated for this award by none other than Matt, who also created this tag.

Here are the rules:

  1. Each answer you give to a question has to be more than two sentences long. Or at the very least, you have to make those two sentences meaningful.
  2. There will be two bonus questions at the end, that the blogger gets to change to whatever they want to ask when they nominate someone else. The first six questions, however, are set in stone.
  3. At the end you must nominate three to five other bloggers. Okay, so you don’t have to, but that would be nice if you could. (I want my blog name to spread on for all of eternity.)
  4. You know how sometimes in quiet classrooms, they’ll be that one guy clicking his pen fifty times a second, and it’s annoying as hell to everyone else? Yeah, don’t be that guy. This doesn’t apply to this tag so much, but more to life in general.

Now, here are the questions:

1.) What’s one of your biggest pet peeves?

I personally hate, hate, etc, it when you ask a simple clarifying question, and the person just snaps at you. Like, don’t you even dare. I am the Queen of Sass, so you better be prepared.

2) What is your favorite song at the moment?

My favorite song at the moment is T-Shirt by Thomas Rhett. Country all the way man.

3) Who is your favorite blogger?

Oh my gosh, this is hard….

4) What’s the nicest thing you’ve seen someone do recently?

A few days ago me and Lauren went to Ryann’s drama performance (great job btw!) and since I’m still sick, I got super super hot. And Lauren sat there and fanned me with the paper schedule thing.

5) What’s something you regret doing?

I regret not spending more time with some of my old friends… And even though I’m not supposed to say something I regret not doing, I regret not getting my popsicle out of the freezer right now.

6) If you could take only three items with you to a deserted island, what would they be, and why?

I would take a working boat, a source of nutrition, and a weapon. Because ya know, prepared.

7) What past fad do you think should make a comeback?

Chinese jump rope, that’s all I did during recess during 3rd grade.

8) How would you describe the perfect date?

I say hiking or something outdoors like that. Especially in the spring. It’s  beautiful here.

And I nominate:

5 Scientists Killed By Their Own Inventions: A Guest Post!

Hey guys! I’m super excited to be doing my first guest post on AKA The Author! This post was written by Madeline from The Talk With Moi, make sure ya go check it out 🙂 And here we go!

◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇

When we think of scientists, we think of those old guys with crazy white hair exploding everything. Now that is so far from the truth. Scientists go to work to figure out stuff and make the world a better place which can sometimes put them in a dangerous situation. Today I want talk about 5 scientists who were killed by their own inventions.

1. Scientist dies from blood transfusion while trying to achieve eternal youth
Alexander Bogdanov was the co-founder of the Bolshevik Party with Vladimir Lenin, but he was later kicked out. Now of course like any man who gets kicked out of his OWN party does, he switched to medicine. While he was pursuing his career in medicine, he tried to create a universal science discipline called tektology but of course that didn’t work. By 1920 one experiment caught his eye, and that experiment was blood transfusion. He wanted to achieve eternal youth by having multiple blood transfusions. By his 11 transfusion, he claimed that his eyesight was improved and his baldness has stopped, so he continued. Sadly, for him one of the blood transfusions was from a student who was suffering from Malaria and Tuberculosis. The irony of this story is that the student who had Malaria and Tuberculosis made a full recovery.

2. Marie curie dies from exposure of Radium and Polonium.

Marie curie won two noble prizes for her discovery Radium and Polonium which led to the discovery of X-Rays. Her discovery of these elements meant that she spent hours and hours exposing herself to these deadly chemical which eventually led her to die of Leukemia in 1934.

3. A French inventor creates a parachute clothes
A French inventor named Franz Reichelt invented a parachute that is on your clothes. Now to test his invention he climbed the Eiffel tower, because jumping from a safe height is just unheard of. Now as you might have guessed by now his invention didn’t work, so he plummeted to his death, and no there was no way he could have survived that. I don’t understand why scientist feel the need to take things to the extreme. My sane self would have probably used a dummy, because 1) I’m afraid of heights and 2) It is dangerous! And if you all were wondering if they have a video on that just go search it up on YouTube. This one actually made me really sad, but I was kind of relived when I learned he died of  a heart Attack during the fall instead of dying from the fall itself.
4. Died from a printing press

William Bullock is the inventor of the web rotary printing press. One day William was trying to “kick” the driving belt onto the pulley, but sadly his leg got caught in the machine and was crushed. Nine days after this horrible incident, Doctors were trying to amputate his let but it had infected with Gangrene.

5. Strangled by ropes

Thomas Midgley Jr. was an American engineer and chemist who developed additives for gasoline as well as 100 other inventions.  Sadly, at the age of 51 he contracted Polio which forced him to a wheel chair and unable to get out of bed without help. Of course like every great scientist he didn’t let his disability get in his way. He created a system of pulleys with rope that would lift him of his bed without any human help. Now this invention worked, but on one fateful day the ropes on the pulleys entangled him and he was strangled to death.
Now this really makes me wonder what would the world be like today if these scientists haven’t died. Would we be able to achieve eternal youth or at least partial youth? Or would we have parachute clothes? Let me know in the comments below.

200 Follower Q&A Answers!

Hey y’all! Thank you all so much  for your questions, I’m just going to get right into this post, so here we go!

Vrushali 21 asked: What superpower do you wish you had? And what is your secret ambition (it will not be a secret after you tell us!), it can be anything from you want to rob a bank or you want to dress like the statue of liberty or even meet The Spice Girls! It could be anything!

I wish I had the superpower to fill things up. Like my bank account, or my fridge. And my secret ambition would have to be to go to a fancy masquerade ball. Get to dance with some mysterious guy 😉

Ruth asked: What do you love most about summer? Who would you call first if you won the lottery?

My favorite thing about summer is being able to go camping and boating and stuff like that. And I would probably call my friend Lauren first if I won the lottery.

Jerrod asked:  You’re trapped in your friend’s body! Which friend you want your soul/consciousness to be trapped in?

Hmm, I’d have to say Lauren again. We’re with each other all the time so no one would question why I’m following my body around xD Also because I could so do something crazy to get her blamed for it… 😉 jk love you Lauren…. (I know you’re reading this. Hi Ryann, too)

Iridescence asked: What was the reason you started blogging in the first place?

You know, I honestly don’t have a good answer. I don’t really remember. It was sort of just a why the heck not, it’d be fun and it’s a new year kind of thing.

Luna asked:  What do you fear the most? What’s a skill you want to learn and why? And if you could witness any event of the past/present/future, which would it be?:)

I fear disappointment the most. And I want to learn how to play piano since it’ll help me alot with music, not just cello . Dang this is a hard question. I would probably have to say the second coming when Jesus comes back to Earth.

InfinitMagic asked: Do you love me? ;D

No, no I do not love you. What kind 0f question is this, of course I love you!

YoursTrulyKK asked: If you were invisible for a day what would you do?

Okay, I have two answers to this one. First, I would find and Iron Man suit and take one. And 2nd, I would go to a funeral and pretend to be the dead person. It’s terrible I know! But you could like knock on the coffin and be like, “Let me out!” Oh my gosh that’s so horrible.. but hilarious.

DramaLlama2016 asked: What is the best way to kill and dispose of a body in your perspective?;)

Well, the best way to kill someone is to take an empty syringe and push it into the vein between the toes. It mimics a heart attack, and the needle point is very hard to find. The best way to dispose of a body, doesn’t really matter if you kill them this way. But if you use an alternate method, acid is a good option. (I watch Criminal Minds, okay?!)

Selfie asked: Would you rather invest in some damn fine speakers or just live off your headphones / earphones😛? Who/ what can make you smile no matter what?
Reveal a deep dark secret of yours 😄 ;P sorry for going so deep into the game with that😄

I would rather just live off of headphones I think, I can stand my normal speaker just fine. And my baby cousin can make me smile no matter what. Hmm.. a deep dark secret of mine… I had my first kiss at 13 and my friends didn’t find out until 2 years later… yeah they weren’t happy to say the least.. my mom found out about 2 weeks ago actually xD

I hope you all liked this! Again, thanks for the support!

Laryngitis

Hey y’all…. so I’m sick. Again. With laryngitis. I’m coughing like crazy, and my head is throbbing..
I went to school today, but we’ll see what happens tomorrow. But I curled my hair so I mean even if I look like I’m dying, it counteracts, right?

Maybe not xD

Anyways, my birthday party was this weekend and I had a lot of fun with my friends. We played some really funny games and had delicious coconut. I’ll insert some pictures here.

Guys the cake was sooo good. Other than the fact that I was coughing so hard I choked and could only eat like 2 bites.
Everyone was staring at me and my dad just got me a drink. But Lauren helped me put the cake away and settle down a bit.

We also went outside to my new firepit and cooked smores with flat marshmallows and then came back in and watched Age of Ultron.

I had a really good time! Hope you all are doing okay! Hopefully I get better soon xD

Nobody Knows That I…

… Did competition dance for 14 years. From the ages 2-15 with one year off, I did dance. Okay, well to be fair, I didn’t start actually competing until I was four. But still.

I danced with three different companies and loved it. Other than the makeup and costumes. When I was little I would almost cry whenever I had to wear makeup. And those dang costumes were always so uncomfortable, hot, and tight. Ridiculous, really. The only things I liked were the spandex shorts, tank-tops, and foot undies. Yes, foot undies. I’ll insert a pic of mine here:

snapchat-6278986305207920348.jpg

They basically just make it easier to do turns, and just move around the floor altogether.

I mainly did two types of dance, jazz and lyrical. Jazz was probably my favorite because we got to add cool moves into it. Some of my favorites are two person cartwheels, kick lines, lifts, and the charleston.

I’m really glad I did dance since it taught me how to relax and have fun, but also how to work with a team. The discipline and principles I learned were really valuable. Being able to compete in dance and basketball and the same time improved my skills in both sports.

Eventually, the reason I chose to quit was because I moved. I spent a year doing dance out at my new house, but it just wasn’t the same. I began to want to focus more on basketball, so that’s what I did.

I really recommend taking a class if your interested, it definitely helps boost self confidence and is a good form of exercise.

If any of you dance, comment down below some of your favorite (or least favorite) things about it and I’ll let you know if I can relate!

Thank You Note To My Mattress

Dear mattress,

I know we’ve only known each other for a few years, but I feel like I know you really well. I always enjoy the long hours we spend together each night. When I’m gone on vacation, I dream of you…. Memory foam, comfort, and warmth. But mainly home.

Thank you for always supporting my weight, on the hard days and the good. Thank you for countless hours where all I do is push you down. Especially when the memory of my shape left a mark in one side of you so I had to move to the left.

And thank you for soaking up my tears after everything that happens. For always providing a place that I know won’t let me down.

Well, guys. This was obviously sarcastic.. but truthful if that makes sense? Anyways I hope you all enjoyed this quick, different post!

AND once again, I have some serious news to share, but I’m not really sure how to say it.. Do you guys want to hear it? Should I share? What do you think?

I’m 16?!

Hey y’all! So today was my 16th birthday and I just wanted to say a quick thank you to everyone who wished me a happy birthday.

You guys are so amazing and sweet!!!

At lunch my mom brought me Chick-fil-A and then we went shopping for presents.
For dinner (Lauren came with us) we went to this really good Italian Place where you can get pizza benders (basically a calzone without sauce) that you dip into the sauce with salad and sphagetti. And it was SO SO good.

I’ll probably do a haul after my party on Saturday which I’m pretty excited for.

Overall I had a good day and can’t believe that I’m 16!!!!

(Also be on the lookout for an update post. There’s been some crazy things happening that you may know about, but I’m not quite ready to share with the blogosphere.)

I love y’all and THANKS AGAIN SO SO MUCH!!!!

Product Review- The Wet Brush

Hey y’all! So my birthday is tomorrow. We’ll technically in an hour and a half since it’s 10:30 pm right now. (Also quick shout out to Liss whose birthday is tomorrow too)  I celebrated with my mom’s family this past weekend and one of the things my grandma got me was this wet brush.

image

I’ve seen a lot of YouTubers praising the product so I was excited to try it and I did about 5 minutes ago.

And it’s like freaking MAGIC. I have really long, thick hair that seems to love tangles. And brushing it when it’s wet is a nightmare.
But this brushed through it in a matter of seconds and I’m honestly amazed.

They’re fairly cheap online and in various stores (I’m not sure where mine is from)

It also works really well with dry hair. So if you’re looking for a new brush or are just interested in one like this, I highly suggest it!

Now I’m going to head to bed, I have a thing against staying up til midnight on my birthday, I like to wake up the next morning.

Love y’all!- Aspen AKA The Girl Who’s About To Be 16!
