Goodbye 16

Hey y’all, as I’m sure I’ve mentioned before, tomorrow is my 17th birthday.

I currently have 55 minutes left of being 16. That’s crazy to me. T

hese past few years have been hectic but I’m glad to be where I am now.

This is the year I learned what really hard trials can be, and what it takes to overcome them. I learned that the really difficult things can become really good things.

I also learned that friendship is one of the most valuable things I posses. I am so exremely proud to call so many people my friends. You are what gets me through the hard things, you make life fun, and never fail to remind me of the beauty in others.

And my family. Sometimes clueless, but always caring. Always willing to help me and support me in whatever I do. I wish I would have realized that earlier. My parents really do mean the world to me, and I’ve come to know how much they will do for me. And my pain in the butt little brother that I couldn’t live without.

Horrible people are everywhere , but the world could never be a completely dark place when people like the ones I know exist.

I’ve also had a renewed desire to do well in my schoolwork so that I can eventually become a doctor. Now it’s not just talk. It’s time to work, because my dreams start here.

And as much as I complain about the massive loads of homework, I am very grateful for the educational opportunities I’ve been given. They are what will create the pathway to my future.

I hope I’ll learn as much next year as I did this year. I hope I can stick to my faith with high spirits and know that everything will be okay. The hard times will pass. If I could give any advice to 17 year old me I’d say to take the work I do seriously, but to enjoy life and enjoy the people around me.

I love all of you. Goodbye 16, hello 17.

The 16 Club

Hey y’all! This is just a quick post to wish Fibit a Happy Birthday!!

He’s a semi-cool guy who can sometimes be funny… kidding, kidding. He’s actually pretty great, and one of my best blog friends. And now he’s finally joined the 16 club! Which is actually kind of odd because now he’s not a full year younger than me.

I just wanted to say that I hope he has a great day and knows how much I enjoy being his friend (my gosh I sound weird) Thanks for all the weird jokes and actual conversations with meaning. Oh-and for finally learning how to give a compliment. The improvement is impressing. But you’re still a brat thank goodness because nice people are boring 😉
You guys should definitely go check out his blog which I already have linked above, and wish him a happy birthday!

Love y’all! (Especially you Mit) (But just today ;)😛) -Aspen AKA The Future Queen

A Father’s Blessing

Hey y’all! So today was my baby bro’s 14th birthday! I had school so he went golfing with my dad and then went to a trampoline place called The Warehouse with Lauren’s brother Logan. I can’t believe he’s so old now! Happy Birthday dude, you’re my favorite sibling 😉 You always know how to make me smile when I really don’t want to. Thanks for trying to hug me over and over again when I only push you away, and for the great cakes. I love you.

School wasn’t too bad, I’m super exhausted but I thought I’d write this post. Our English teacher seems legit, he’s hilarious. After school we had some homework to finish from over the summer so we got fries and nuggets from McDonalds to cope XD

But just a little bit ago, my dad gave us a father’s blessing to help with the school year and stuff. My dad talked about helping me do good in school, not getting overwhelmed,  coming closer to my Heavenly Father, being an example for my brother, using my talents to help others, and that we’ll be able to find some answers medical wise and I’ll be better able to deal with the pain, and to know how much my parents love me.

We used to get these every year before school but we haven’t done it in awhile, so this time I started tearing up, and I had to pinch myself so I wouldn’t cry.

I’m just really glad that I’m able to have these kinds of blessings that I know help me. And I’m especially grateful that my father is worthy to hold the priesthood so we can have it in our house at any time.

A lot of times when things get really bad, I need a priesthood blessing so my dad and other family members are able to help.

My dad had stage 4 hodgkins lymphoma that came back 3 times when I was younger, he had already had a bone marrow transplant (Or 2 I can’t quite remember) and needed another one. That day he got a priesthood blessing, and didn’t need one anymore. He’s been in remission for 11 years now.

I’m not saying priesthood blessings are magic- they’re not. But it comes really close.

I love you all (Happy Birthday Spencer!) – Aspen AKA The Author

To Them

Hey y’all!

This is a quick announcement to tell my amazing friends Ryann and Lauren HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Because not only are they my only friends that read my blog, but also because they are some of the most amazing people I know.

Tonight is Laurens party and I was supposed to go hang out with her early but it doesn’t look like it’ll work out so I’m bummed quite a bit. Oh well, as long as she’s happy.

Ryann is having her party next week so there will be an update on both parties sometime soon.

I’m so glad I met these girls, they’ve helped me through so so much. I hit wanted to make sure they knew how much I love and appreciate them.

Happy Sweet 16, y’all!! And welcome to the club!

Make sure to comment down below wishing them a happy birthday!

My (Epic?) Weekend

Hey  y’all! So today is Mother’s Day, and I just wanted to say how grateful I am for my own mother. She is the kindest, sweetest, person I know who will do anything for our family. And even strangers for that matter. I was having a hard time today after getting some advice/news last night so she came in to cheer me up. And I was being the usual uncooperative brat I am and told her that I didn’t care if she loved me or not. She just proceeded to tickle me, laughing about how she doesn’t get to do it anymore. And then kissed me on the cheek and told me too bad, because she was always going to love me anyway. She’s the greatest.

Speaking of great people, this Friday was my AP European History test and it was LONG. 6 HOURS long. And by the end of it I was exhausted, but 3 fantastic people picked me up for our plans! My mom (again), my best friend Lauren, and her mom. We went and got pedicures (I got this really cool copper color with a black flower), ate dinner at Applebees, and saw Captain America Civil War. I had TONS of fun.

Then on Saturday I went to my brothers basketball game, Bex’s birthday party (we got in the hot tub and it felt GREAT), and then went to my dad’s cousin’s wedding reception. There we talked to one of his relatives, who is SO SO kind. She has fibromyalgia and was talking to my parents about my pain and symptoms and it sounds like that’s what I have. We’d already talked to a neurologist who said that it might be a possibility so the next step would be going to see rheumatologist.

I’ve kind of been in a bad mood ever since because there isn’t a cure for it, and there hasn’t been much research done. I guess I’ll be doing a lot of that from now on. Apparently my parents have been too.

ALSO something sort of exciting, I start training for Little Red officially this week! If you don’t know, Little Red is the all women’s bike race I do that raises money for breast and ovarian cancer. It’s sooo much fun and I was so proud of myself for riding 100 miles last year. I can’t wait to see what this year brings. Wish me luck!

Love y’all so much! -Aspen AKA The Author

My Blogging Twin is 16?!

Hey y’all! Well, it is April 27th… AKA Liv’s birthday! Make sure to go send her quick birthday wish on her blog!

I just wanted to say how grateful I am for her, and talk about how amazing she is. I love you Livvi! I hope you’re having a great day, and that turning 16 is as magical as you hoped it would be.

Now that I’m 16, it’s actually a bit different. I hope you know that I’ll be right here to help with anything you need. You are so much stronger than you think. Stop doubting yourself. All you need… is you. There’s no such thing as good enough. So work until what you have makes you happy.

You truly are an inspiration. I love you and Happy Sweet 16!

Your Blogging Twin

I’m 16?!

Hey y’all! So today was my 16th birthday and I just wanted to say a quick thank you to everyone who wished me a happy birthday.

You guys are so amazing and sweet!!!

At lunch my mom brought me Chick-fil-A and then we went shopping for presents.
For dinner (Lauren came with us) we went to this really good Italian Place where you can get pizza benders (basically a calzone without sauce) that you dip into the sauce with salad and sphagetti. And it was SO SO good.

I’ll probably do a haul after my party on Saturday which I’m pretty excited for.

Overall I had a good day and can’t believe that I’m 16!!!!

(Also be on the lookout for an update post. There’s been some crazy things happening that you may know about, but I’m not quite ready to share with the blogosphere.)

I love y’all and THANKS AGAIN SO SO MUCH!!!!

Product Review- The Wet Brush

Hey y’all! So my birthday is tomorrow. We’ll technically in an hour and a half since it’s 10:30 pm right now. (Also quick shout out to Liss whose birthday is tomorrow too)  I celebrated with my mom’s family this past weekend and one of the things my grandma got me was this wet brush.

I’ve seen a lot of YouTubers praising the product so I was excited to try it and I did about 5 minutes ago.

And it’s like freaking MAGIC. I have really long, thick hair that seems to love tangles. And brushing it when it’s wet is a nightmare.
But this brushed through it in a matter of seconds and I’m honestly amazed.

They’re fairly cheap online and in various stores (I’m not sure where mine is from)

It also works really well with dry hair. So if you’re looking for a new brush or are just interested in one like this, I highly suggest it!

Now I’m going to head to bed, I have a thing against staying up til midnight on my birthday, I like to wake up the next morning.

Love y’all!- Aspen AKA The Girl Who’s About To Be 16!

Hey y’all! So I had this idea to recognize all the blogger’s birthdays for each month!

I will do a post like this each month, telling you to comment if your birthday is that month and what day. Also how old you will be turning, and anything else we come up with.

If you guys have any other ideas to add onto this let me know down below!

Oh and if your birthday is in APRIL please comment NOW, so that I can have the post done one the 1st of April.

Thank you all and a special shoutout to infinitmagic for helping me get the idea moving. -Aspen AKA The Author

Let’s Chat

Hey y’all! I feel like it’s been forever since I’ve sat down and “talked” with all of you!

I stayed home from school today since I’ve been in a ton of pain since last night and spent all day doing some homework and watching (of course) Criminal Minds. I have another neurologist appointment on Monday so hopefully that goes well.

Next Wednesday is tryouts for Chamber Orchestra at my school, and I’m super nervous. I barely picked out the song today because it is SOO hard to find cello sheet music!

On Friday my friends Bex, Ry, and Lauren came over and we watched Criminal Minds and just hung around laughing our heads off. Especially after messing around with the face swap on Snapchat.

(Speaking of which, I now have a blog snapchat, it’s akatheauthor so go check it out!)

Other than that, I went to 2 of my cousins birthday parties this weekend. One turned 10 and the other turned 6.

At my 10 year old cousin’s birthday party we went to this skating, bounce house, jungle gym place that my family owns and it was really fun! His sister, Aliyah smashed a cupcake in my face so we had a little war XD

At my other cousin’s birthday party we roasted hot dogs outside, and I got to hang out with all of the little ones. These are the two youngest on the swing with Sienna and I, and then “sleeping” under the rug.

Monster now has an obsession with Scooby Doo, but only refers to him as “Doo” XD This video is one of the cutest things ever.

Then Birdie(the other baby)’s sister, looked like an epic hippie 😉 XD

snapchat-6327797429702485132.jpgMy aunt then took me driving around her house and it was actually really fun (even though I’m not a big fan of driving) and I finished off the night with my cousins sleeping over!

Hope you all have had a good weekend/ beginning of the week! Oh, and Happy International Women’s Day! Love you guys!
