Why the Second-Half of Senior Year Sucks

Hey y’all, it’s been a little while…again. I just got back from a weekend trip to the college that I will most likely be attending in the fall.

We went on a campus tour and all of that fun stuff, and I think that I’ll really like living down there, even if it is warm most of the time.

But at the same time… I don’t really want to go to be completely honest. I got a full ride scholarship and my best friend is even going, but I’m so stressed right now that I don’t feel confident in any decision that I try to make.

My grandparents even live down there and offered to let me live with them for free, or I could pay for housing and room with Lauren (my best friend), but I have no idea what to do.

At this point my 18th birthday seems like something I’ll never make it to, let alone graduation, or the whole craziness of trying to plan my 3 week senior trip to Europe.

And I’m really not trying to complain, I’m so lucky to have parents taking me on that trip in the first place and it will be amazing, or to have the chance to even graduate and continue my education, let alone get a full ride scholarship.

But at the end of the day I don’t know how I’m supposed to choose.

Let me know if you have any ideas, I have a feeling I’ll be writing more about all of this soon.

Love y’all.

A Tour of Temple Square!

Hey y’all! I’m still catching up on things that I did in the past few weeks, if you missed my other 2 posts ( ) make sure to go and check them out 🙂

The next thing I did this month was visit Temple Square with Lauren! We left school early to go and see an organ recital for our orchestra concert report. They have recitals almost every day at the Tabernacle and they’re totally free. Plus now that some flowers are actually blooming it’s even more beautiful than usual.

Not only was the recital amazing (I’ll input a video of one part below), the tabernacle itself is so cool. It was built in 1864 right next to the temple in a specific dome-shape which makes it extremely sensitive to sound, the organist did a demonstration and you can literally hear a pin drop from anywhere in the room. It’s also where the famous (like actually, internationally award winning) Mormon Tabernacle Choir (which we lovingly refer to as the Mo Tab) started. It also has one of the world’s best organs with 11, 623 pipes.

After the tabernacle we headed into the Assembly Hall, a Victorian Gothic style building where the church used to have meeting back in the olden days, and the detail was beautiful. It also has an organ too.  The benches are super close together because people were clearly much shorter back then.

Next was the best part, the temple itself. We didn’t go in because we weren’t dressed or ready for that (plus the SLC temple is so booked- I’ve never even been inside it). We took some pictures by the doors which I love- the temple took 40 years to build and was done completely by hand, it’s the most gorgeous building I’ve ever seen. Plus there’s always cute couples taking wedding pictures and gah my heart! Especially since its the temple that my parents got married in 🙂

Right next to the temple is the Reflection Pool where I actually saw a bride fall in while taking a picture once which was crazy, but it’s super pretty.

The last place that we went is the Conference Center that is just across the street! It is the largest theater-style auditorium in the world (and thought to be the biggest ever built) and it seats 21,000 people. This is where General Conference is held twice each year and is broadcasted to the rest of the world, the next one is actually next week and I’m really excited! I love hearing from the Prophet and apostles.

The rest of the conference center is basically filled with paintings, one hallway is from bible and Book of Mormon stories and the other one is a portrait of literally every prophet and apostle in the history of the church.

And then my personal favorite part, is the roof! When we got up there and were getting out of the elevator and there was this group of boys our age all dressed up super nice, right? And our tour guide guy goes, “Look ladies, there’s a bunch of guys all for you” So naturally, Lauren and I are like, “Ayy this is great, hi” all of the guys like smiled at us and then this one kid starts clapping. Just clapping as we walk by and I was laughing so hard. His friend asked him why he was and all he said was, why not xD  Anyways, the roof is the best part for multiple reasons.

  1. Amazing side view of the temple
  2. Lots of Aspen trees
  3. There’s a giant fountain that has paths across the whole thing
  4. Each corner of the roof is planted/designed to match that part of Utah! So the South has drier plants, the northeast has more pine trees, etc. It’s so cool.
  5. There’s a mural that is literally etched into this granite with a quote from the Doctrine and Covenants that says, “And this gospel shall be preached unto every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people” with a picture of real people who came to Utah from tons of different countries and cultures. wp-1490653501784.jpgI hope you liked this mini tour of temple square, I’ll have to go to take more pictures once even more flowers have bloomed!

Let me know down below if it seems like something you’d like to visit! Love y’all! -Aspen AKA The Author

Who’s Most Likely To… feat. Fibit and Colby

Hey y’all! For the past about 10 months or so, I’ve been a part of a group chat with 2 other bloggers, who I now consider some of my closest blogging friends. We talk a lot more than is probably normal, but they always know how to make me laugh. Even when they don’t know I needed it. Both of them are genuinely extremely kind and rude, so I fit right in 😉  We’re actually all planning on all meeting sometime in the future and going on a trip around the world, and London is the first stop! (After I have to drag them out of the airport by their earlobes because they won’t stop fighting, we have a few things to learn from the maid, and some passion fruit ice cream to eat 😉 But we haven’t done a collab post ever which is insane, so we’re doing it now!

Introducing,  Who’s Most Likely To… with Colby from Dreams and Movie Screens, and Fibit from, well, Fibit. We did 18 questions in total, you  can check out the other questions by clicking here ( Colby’s post) and here ( Fibit’s post).

Who is most likely to become president someday?

Me:  I say me because Fibit isn’t even from here, and Colby is too lazy 😉

Colby: Definitely Aspen. She seems the most driven to do something like that.

Fibit: Aspen. She’s into debating and that kinda thing and she’s probably a great public speaker.

Who is most likely to get drunk alone on Christmas Eve?

Me: Colby and Fibit. I could kind of see both of them depending on the situation, and I don’t drink.

Colby: I’m honestly not sure of this one. Drunk alone? Probably me or Fibit. We just seem like those people, I guess.

Fibit: Me. I’d say Colby but she’s more likely to get completely wasted with others.

Who is most likely to get married first?

Me: Hmm… I’m gonna say Fibit actually. I don’t know why, but I can picture him getting married younger…

Colby: I could see Aspen getting married first. She’s a husband-magnet. She seems the most wife-like between her and me.

Fibit: Aspen. I don’t really have a reason.

Who is most likely to get in a fight?

Me: Well generally me because I’m the violent one. But Fibit and Colby argue like children.

Colby: Me and Fibit. As in, fighting each other. We’ve squared up multiple times. We plan to fight here in a couple of years.

Fibit: Colby and I. We’ve got loads of beef so when she finally visits London, it’s going down.
Who is most likely to fail a simple test?

Me:  Honestly, probably me because I would overthink it waaay too much.

Colby: Probably me, because I get sidetracked sometimes. Though I’ve never failed a test.

Fibit: Me. I’ll probably revise the wrong stuff.

Who is most likely to become a multi-millionaire?

Me:   I could actually see Fibit being a multi-millionare with some corporate business in NYC or something. (Although Colby and I would be the ones embarrassing him dancing on a table at one of those fancy apartment parties)

Colby: Fibit. He seems inventive and business-minded enough to do it.

Fibit: Aspen. She’s going to be a specialist doctor so…

That’s all for now folks!

Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed it! Be sure to leave us a comment down below, and head on over to Colby’s and Fibit’s blogs to see the rest of the questions! Love y’all! -Aspen AKA The Autho

My Reverse Bucket List!

Hey y’all! Aspen is currently looking for a wallet and this is Ryann, the second favorite because I have come to realize that Lauren is the number one by a longshot. Oh well. We are getting ready to go to the second varsity home game for our high school and I’m sure that Aspen has told you all that our school cannot play football to save our lives. It’s pretty sad actually. I think we are the third worst high school team in the nation. We are getting ready to leave to my house where I am going to be looking fly because my ex, cough *douchebag* cough, will be and I want to make the world realize that I am actually pretty amazing. I hate writing on this blog because I suck at writing but I want to tell you guys and gals that Aspen just said her fingers look like spiders. She told me to tell y’all that this is her reverse bucket list, meaning she has already done everything on here and she wanted to share it with you. I probably should have written that at the top because that is why she is having me write on her blog. Love you Aspen! How School’s Going So Far

Hey y’all! So today was the 3rd day of school, and also picture day. I woke up at 5:45 to curl my freaking hair which took soooo much effort let me tell you. But funny story, while I was in one of the lines waiting to get my picture taken, I looked over at another photographer.

And low and behold, it was one of my 2nd cousins, I wasn’t 100% sure because I had no idea she did anything like that (she’s  my mom’s cousin’s daughter) . So I switched into her line, just in case. When I handed her the money form with my name on it she went, “It is you!” So we talked about our family while she took my picture, and she fixed it all up, so I actually don’t hate it for once!

Besides that, I’ve been reading and annotating the Scarlet Letter for English class, and it’s actually quite interesting. Plus our teacher is hilarious, so that’s great.

I also spent the night memorizing all the anatomical planes and positions for my medical anatomy class, which is a pain, but I got them all down, so it’s not too bad. I’m pretty good at memorizing terms, and since these go with movements (Duh, it’s the way our bodies MOVE) it’s even easier. Here I’ll teach you some, if you point your toes down, that’s called plantarflexion, and if you point them up it’s called dorsiflexion. Also if you  move a body part away from your body, it’s abduction, but moving it towards your body is adduction. But that’s only a few since our bodies are very complex.

Tomorrow my friends and I are planning on going to the JV football game which should be exciting. And by exciting I mean horrible because I love football so much, and our school teams SUCK. SO. BAD.

But speaking of football, college ball starts soon!! I’m so excited to go watch the Utes play!

Random comment, tomorrow I’m planning on wearing my shirt that says “I followed my heart and it led me to the fridge” which is pretty legit and completely true.

And LASTLY, my uncle from Arizona is flying in on Friday so we are spending the weekend in the cabin at Bear Lake AKA my favorite place on Earth. And guess what?! Lauren is coming with me this time!!! If you can’t tell, I’m very excited. I’ll be sure to post about it when it happens!

Till then, love y’all!- Aspen AKA The Author

Pinterest Gave Me An Idea…

Hey y’all! So I have been ridiculously bored and alone all freaking day and there’s some other stuff happening that I won’t talk about for privacy reasons, but ANYWAY, here’s the point.

As all extremely bored and lonely people do, I was scrolling, and scrolling, and scrolling, and scrolling (okay, you get the point) through Pinterest and found something. It was this random picture of a folder saying that whatever someone commented they would keep on their folder all year. Naturally, I wanted to do it myself, but seeing as I don’t really know people on Pinterest, I had a different idea.

Why not ask all of my lovely followers and friends on my blog?

So, comment something down below! Something you want to tell me, a joke, a quote, literally anything (except really crude or vulgar comments obviously)

I’d really appreciate it if you guys comment, it can be anything! You’re support in any way means a lot right now.

I’ve felt pretty alone lately which is honestly really hard for me to admit since this hasn’t ever happened to me before.

Especially since I feel like I’m letting down my friends when I say that, but I can’t help it and it makes me feel really guilty when they have other stuff to do too. Hopefully it’s just a rut, this usually isn’t me.

Love y’all 🙂 -Aspen AKA The Author

roadtrip 2.jpg

Hey y’all! So about two weeks ago, Lauren and I drove up to Idaho on a roadtrip! Her grandparents live there so that’s where we spent a few days! Our parents were initially all for it, but as it got closer they got super worried. Especially my dad, he likes to pretend he’s not protective but he sooo is.

We left Sunday afternoon and spent the 4 hour drive jamming out to CD’s, playing road games, and talking about life. When we were almost there, I realized I left my phone charger at home, so we had to stop at Walmart so I could get a new one. We ate Arby’s for dinner and left for her grandparents house!

That night we just sat on one of the beds and talked forever as always, and the next morning we had to be up pretty early to go and feed the cows!

That day we went to clean out the canal that waters one of her grandpa’s fields and flooded it. We also got to ride in the swather ( a machine that cuts the alfalfa/hay, I’ll insert a picture)

For the rest of the week we just did other things around the farm and town places like giving the cows shots, watering the other field and fixing the circle (a huge sprinkler), and just riding around in her grandpa’s awesome truck. We also got to drive the four-wheeler around the field while her uncle’s dog Max chased us around.

We got addicted to these pink candies that tasted like pepto bismol and were soooo good. Insert picture of our hot pink tongues… here! pink 2

While doing all of this I got a cool tour of the town and just took some pictures of the road and scenery 🙂

One night we couldn’t sleep and went exploring upstairs and found an old record player! It was really funny though since it would only play super super slow or so fast that it sounded like chipmunks singing. We searched everywhere for another record, but couldn’t find one. That night was probably my favorite, I just felt completely at home and super happy.

One day we went with her grandma to go watch a movie, and when we got there it was all weirdly dark.  Turns out the power was out in a large part of the state so we spent the afternoon playing cards instead. We were playing BS and it was super funny because sometimes her grandma would just take  the cards instead of lying. And one time Lauren was looking through the cards and said, “Oooh someone was lying…. I think it was me”. We ate dinner outside and her grandpa kept swatting away the flies and saying, “Fetch!” “These dang flies make you  wanna swear!”

On the way back we stopped at this restaurant called Maddox where you just park in the driving port. They had super good fried chicken, french fries, and honey. We saw a huge fire on the way home and spent it talking and in traffic and obviously jamming out, it was awesome. These are pictures I took on the way out of Idaho!

idaho lake 2

This trip meant a lot more than just hanging out with my best friend, because even if we were working on a farm or whatever I had tons of fun and I loved it. The freedom and new experience was just really fun, and I’m really glad I got to spend it with this crazy one 🙂

I hope you liked this post! Love you guys! -Aspen AKA the Author

Welcome To My Humble A-(Blog)!

Hey y’all! So this is just an update/ taking care of business post.

First, I’d like to welcome all of my new followers! I’m so happy you decided to follow along with my journey and experiences. Don’t be afraid to comment or get a hold of me through my current social media, I love getting to know all of you fabulous people!

School got out a few weeks ago, but this is a picture of Lauren, Bex, and I after our orchestra banquet 🙂

Next, my bike race was a couple weekends ago and I decided to only do 50 miles instead of 100 like I did last year due to health issues. Plus dudes, it was SO hot, there wasn’t any wind and I could feel the heat pulsing around me in waves. This year, my 13 year old cousin Sienna, did the race with us and I had tons of fun! I loved being able to cross the finish line with her and my aunt Julie. (Plus Amy, obviously).

Here’s us before the race:

Afterwards we went to the original FatBoy factory and got ice cream that was super yummy! There was this boy working in the factory that looked really shocked when he saw me it was super funny. He liked waved his friend over and started pointing so I ran away XD

The next day we stopped at a park and took some cute pictures! Here’s some:

Me and my mom

Tessa (Sienna’s little sister) and Summit (Amy’s son)

Wooh, okay 3rd of all yesterday was my first post on The Artistics, which is some pictures of my friends and I so go check that out here! I really like how they turned out 🙂 (Probably since my friends are gorgeous..)

Okay, almost done! I have SUPER exciting news! Since Lauren will have her license soon, our parents are letting us drive 4 hours away to her grandparents to spend a week and I’m SO excited dudes! Since she’s not allowed to have sleepovers, this is GROUNDBREAKING. Not even kidding, I’m freaking out from excitement, if you can’t tell.

And LASTLY! Tomorrow there will be another recording with Lauren. We will be doing a story time of the first time we “officially” hung out and became best friends as requested. Stay tuned for that, it’s pretty great!

Well, if you made it thanks for reading! Comment down below, “I made it!” And your plans for this summer!

Love y’all! -Aspen AKA The Author

P.S. This is post 160!

A (Guest) Friend Post! -Hala

Hello friends! This is Hala, Aspen’s friend from school. We’re in our last math class of the year/our last class together until senior year. It’s pretty sad.

But anyways, I’m gonna tell y’all about my (one of) my favorite memories with Aspen. It was on February 15th, so a while ago. It was a Monday but we didn’t have school cause it was Presidents Day or some crap (sorry Mr. Pres) like that. We were sposed to be doing math homework but we were all done with life. Cassey (my basically sister) was collapsed on the ground and Aspen and I were just sitting on my bed struggling and trying to motivate Cass.

We decided we needed a break, so we all grabbed blankets (it was pretty cold outside + idk if you all know but Aspen’s body heat is basically that of a house with only a broken space heater in the far corner of the basement). We went on a walk and we were going to go to a park not far from my house but we decided to go the long way. Unfortunately I don’t know my neighborhood very well and we got lost. We found this road that was like, perf for hipster picture taking 👌 but because it was February, the sun went down super early. So we still haven’t taken hipster pictures but we’re going to this summer.

My mom called and said we needed to go home for dinner but because we were lost we decided we needed to gallop like horses down the roads until we found a road I knew. We were excellent horses.

There isn’t really a point to this story, Aspen just let me post whatever I wanted. (Also don’t worry, we made it home for dinner & didn’t get killed or kidnapped or anything).

Enjoy this pic of Cassey, me, aspen, and Becca at lunch today (tye dye Tues dye):

Have a fantabulous day y’all!

Love, Hala – AKA one of the two people allowed to call Aspen Tree

To Them

Hey y’all!

This is a quick announcement to tell my amazing friends Ryann and Lauren HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Because not only are they my only friends that read my blog, but also because they are some of the most amazing people I know.

Tonight is Laurens party and I was supposed to go hang out with her early but it doesn’t look like it’ll work out so I’m bummed quite a bit. Oh well, as long as she’s happy.

Ryann is having her party next week so there will be an update on both parties sometime soon.

I’m so glad I met these girls, they’ve helped me through so so much. I hit wanted to make sure they knew how much I love and appreciate them.
