Hey y’all! It’s been a crazy past few weeks, but they’ve also been super fun! Like 3 weeks ago, Lauren and I went to Disneyworld for HOSA Nationals.

Our flight didn’t land until 11:30 or so as far as I remember, but by the time we checked in and got into our hotel room it was 2 am, and we were starving. But everything was closed and since we couldn’t leave Disney property, we starved all night until 6:30 the next morning when Lauren and I woke up to head to Animal Kingdom.

First we went on the Safari, and it was really cool, all of the animals were really close up!

After that, we watched The Circle of Life, which is just a show about the Lion King and that was also really cool. The monkeys did an acrobatic routine that was really fun to watch!

We also went on a lot of the rides and our favorites by far were the Dinosaur and Everest, because it’s an actual roller coaster and I love heights.

We decided to hop over to Hollywood Studios that same day and went on a lot of the rides they had along with the Indiana Jones stunt show. We went on Star Tours like 3x in a row because it was air conditioned xD

To finish off the night we watched the Fantasmic show and it was awesome! It had fireworks and all the classic music, and they even set the lake on fire.

The next day we went to Epcot before opening ceremonies, and it ended up being our favorite park. All of the countries were so cool, and we loved the ride Soarin’. On the way back to the hotel we decided to take the monorail which ended up being a huge mistake and we got lost in Magic Kingdom somehow. On the bright side, we talked to one of the security guards who was from Scotland but knew about the rivalry between BYU and Utah and made us laugh even when we were freaking out.

After opening ceremonies we went to Magic Kingdom with out roommates for the extra magic hours and got to go on Pirates of the Caribbean and Space Mountain with literally no line, it was great.

Thursday we had competition so afterwards we spent the day just chilling at the hotel and then headed over to Disney Springs, it was really fun to see something like that because we have places like that in Utah but the atmosphere was so different.

Friday, we made the insane decision to try and hit every single park in one day. We started with Magic Kingdom and breakfast at Be Our Guest (a really cool experience btw) It was blasted hot that day so waiting in line felt like forever, especially Splash Mountain because the wait was like an hour and a half, but that’s a classic and it was fun so it was worth it in the end. The mine train was also a really fun one. On the way out we grabbed an infamous Dole Whip and headed back to Hollywood.

In Hollywood we went straight for Tower of Terror which was one of my favorite rides, I love heights and the parts where your just free falling are sooo fun. Next we ran (almost literally) to Rockin’ Rollercoaster which was also super fun. it plays Aerosmith music and goes super fast.

Next on the list was Epcot, because we had a few more countries to see and presents to buy for our families. We found bracelets in China with the year of the snake (the year they were born) on them, and I got my dad a maraca and a hacky sack from Mexico. We also ended up getting ourselves matching carved rings in Mexico too that say “Laur” and “Asp”.

Finally we made it to Animal Kingdom, feeling half dead. I was seriously walking on my tip toes my feet hurt so bad. The whole reason we decided to hit all 4 parks again was to go on the Avatar ride in the new world Pandora that just barely opened. The whole entire section as SO COOl.  Since it was dark everything glowed, and all the lamps were black lights. The line itself took 2 hours, but thankfully we had this cute family with a 6 year old boy and his older sister to keep us busy the whooole time. He talked our ears off, but he was hilarious and it took my mind off my feet.

Throughout the line the whole thing was set up to look like a lab with an avatar in a chamber and everything, the ride was essentially you syncing up with an Avatar to ride a banshee and it was AMAZING. It was 4D and I would honestly go back just for that ride, I’m SO glad we decided to go back for it.

Saturday we slept in for so long and then went to the waterpark! They had some pretty good slides and the water was so nice because it was so hot. The wave pool was also really cool, but it was MASSIVE and we almost died a few times. I know I got hit in the head by some flying children for sure.

After closing ceremonies we headed back to the hotel to pack and Face time Ryann until 1 am, which was also really fun just to talk to her and have time to actually talk since everything wasn’t so busy.

We had to leave to the airport at 4 am so we only got 45 minutes of sleep, but it’s okay because we were all so ready to come home. It was funny how all of us said that we missed the mountains since Florida is so flat. I got some really cool pictures of the mountains as flew over them!

Ryann came to the airport with my mom to pick us up and brought us Beto’s breakfast burritos (basically pure heaven), chocolate milk, and flowers because she’s literally the best. She even stayed with me all day to repack since I left the next day for Red Cross camp.

I had so much fun and I’m SO thankful that I got to go, and that I got to do it with Lauren. It’s definitely something I’ll never forget.

My Summer Bucket List!

Hey y’all! Since this is my last summer in high school *gasp* I decided that I might as well make it a good one, so here’s my summer bucket list!

P.S. The pictures are from Lauren’s yard- we had a rose petal fight.

  1. Do a bike race
  2. Go to a drive-in movie
  3. Go camping with my friends
  4. Make a photo album
  5. Go to the mill pond by my aunt’s house
  6. Have A bonfire WITH all OF my SCHOOL papers
  7. Read “Jane Eyre”
  8. //Amp up my blogging game //
  9. Leave notes in library books
  10.  Go zip lining
  11. Go on LoTs and LoTs of bike rides
  12. Play some good old foursquare and tether ball
  13. Take my cousins to the splash pad 🙂
  14. Spend some nights playing {video games} with my brother
  15. Dig up the time capsule I buried the summer before 10th grade….

I hope you liked my summer bucket list, I just got back from the spa (yeah, you heard that right, THE SPA) Amy took me for my birthday and we got massages and facials, and just let me say I was in heaven. Everything was so fancy and calming and smelt amazing. It was also a great way to recuperate from the bike race we did on Saturday!

I did it with Amy, my mom, my aunt Julie, my cousin Sienna, and a bunch of other ladies. We decided to ride 40 miles and just keep it relaxed and fun which definitely worked. BUT the first 9 miles of the ride my mom was dying, (we were seriously going 9 miles an hour) and it was her first race and all but we were so confused as to why she was so tired. Come to find out, her back tire was rubbing the brake so bad that it wasn’t even moving. Now I have no idea how she even went as far as she did like that.

That’s enough of my rambling, comment down below something on your summer bucket list!

My Week In Pictures

Hey y’all! So this is a random arrangement of pictures that I’ve taken over the past month or so. I’ve spent a lot of time with my cousins which is great, we all had a sleepover this past weekend for Olivia’s birthday and it was so much fun. We had a talent show that was hilarious and ate a ton of junk and laughed for hours. I took a lot of pictures of the kids, and the puppy.

One of my friends, Emily, got surgery too so we brought her some stuff afterwards to let her know we care 🙂

Other than that, the scenery has been beautiful lately and I’ve got a bunch of cute handouts from church. So there’s also some pictures of that.

I hope y’all enjoyed some of these pictures! Have a good week!

Parks and Cemeteries!

Hey y’all! Today was a half day of sorts. Technically juniors didn’t have school at all to make up for the day we have to come in February to take the ACT. But my AP US History teacher was doing a review thing so my friends and I decided to go to that.

First, Lauren and I went and got breakfast burritos from Betos and they’re SO good. They’re massive and filled with super yummy potatoes eggs and such, I got bacon. Then we drove to the school and to the AP review thing.

After that we went to this park over by our houses that’s in this cute little town next to the mine. They have super fun metal slides, Ryann flew down them and flipped into the wood chips it was hilarious. We took some fun pictures which I’ll have down below!

After the park we went the cemetery there and just looked at all the graves. Does anyone else like to do that? Or is it just me…. Either way, Laur and Ry wandered off so Bex and I were just looking at the headstones together and had a really cool conversation. We were talking about being human and our empathy and ability to progress together and individually. I brought up the point that we always see the bad things of progression when (at least in my beliefs) the world was created for positive things and some of the only reasons we are where we are today is because of hope and faith.

I’ve really missed talking to her, we always have really cool conversations that keep me thinking.

I have to go to young women’s, we’re delivering gifts to veterans in our ward! Love y’all! -Aspen AKA The Author

Star Valley-Part 2!

Hey y’all! So this is what I did on Sunday in Wyoming! So to start, my grandma grew up in what the entire town calls “The brick house”. It was basically a monument for all of Star Valley and the neighboring towns. About two years ago, some of my family made the horrible decision to sell the property. Now instead of a beautiful brick house, is a natural gas station. A. Gas. Station.

This gas station to be specific:

We used to camp out in the backyard and in the morning we’d sneak through the trees on the left to Burger King for breakfast. Even though we couldn’t camp there this year, we still kept up the tradition.

After breakfast we visited my dad’s uncle Donald in a rest home- and he’s super funny. He loves to go- “Aw hell” but he was telling us about how the cops used to tell him to stop shooting the skunks or they’d put him in jail and they still recognize him now. When we left he told my dad that he would never forget him- not in this life or another which I thought was very cute.

After that, we went to visit my dad’s great aunt on his other side, Polly. She fell and broke her hip so she was in the Star Valley Hospital- we couldn’t stay long but she asked my brother if he brought her a banana. He had promised that he would bring her one the last time we saw her in a hospital down in Utah a few years back. He didn’t remember.

My favorite thing that we did though- was hike the Intermittent Springs. My family and my aunt Michelle and her husband Josh hiked up to this beautiful water fall thing that my dad loved as a child. About every 10 minutes or so it completely stops and then after 15 minutes starts again. We were there just at the right time so we got to watch it start!

This next pictures are a sort of before and after of my brother and I. We’re standing/sitting on the same place in both of them, just 10 years after.

After our hike, we went and visited some places that our families lived. One of them was the farm my other great grandma grew up on. It’s in a extremely tiny place called Smoot. Right before this we stopped at the green house again and found these super cute little cats- but on the farm we found 4 other itty bitty kittens.

This is the farm:

And that was the end of our trip! I hope you made it to the end of another really long Wyoming post! If you didn’t see the first part- check it out here!

Homecoming Week!

Hey y’all! So I actually planned writing and posting the 2nd part to my Wyoming trip but I felt like doing an update/ rant post.

This week (well tonight) is homecoming so during the week we dressed up depending on the theme for the day. Tuesday night Ryann and I went and saw Storks as I mentioned previously, but it was a lot of fun!

On Wednesday we didn’t have school so Ryann and Bex came over and we just messed around an made cookies. For young womens later that night we went to Gardner’s Village which is this cute little place with shops that they decorate with tons of life size witches for Halloween. We did the scavenger hunt for all the witches and it was super fun!

Thursday was the parade where all of the clubs from school do floats which was pretty fun. The best part of the night though was when the whole stadium was singing along to High School Musical. At the end was the burning of the CH (Our school letters) which is a really cool tradition, along with fireworks.

Last night was the homecoming game and since we suck at football it was laaaame. The best part was the halftime performance. By 3rd quarter Lauren and I left and went to the Pop Shop. I got the white gummy bear which has mountain dew, mango, pineapple, and ice cream puree which was actually really good.

Today (well and last night) I got to babysit my cousins! It feels like it’s been forever since I’ve seen them, and  they’re all so cute! The baby’s favorite thing to say now is, “I pretty”.

Abigale my little Monkey

And then tonight was the Utes game against Cal and ugh it was soooo dumb- and I’m not even saying that just because we lost. We had 2 timeouts with 20 seconds left in the game. Our coach asked the refs for clarification on time but they thought he said timeout, and they took our timeout anyways. Which is RIDICULOUS- they should have taken it back! And when we used our last timeout a player got hurt, which means that we should have gotten our timeout back. But we obviously didn’t.

Although other than that our offensive coach is horrendous– he was having us PASS when our running game is what was working! And at the end they put in Moss when our other player was the one who was actually getting yards!

Anyways, I had a pretty fun weekend. Tomorrow is general conference which means instead of going to church I get to stay in my pj’s at home and watch church on TV! We usually make cinnamon rolls so I’m looking for to that- and listening to the Prophet and Apostles speak.

Tell me how you’re weekend went down below! Love y’all! -Aspen AKA The Author

My Ferret Went Missing?!

Wow guys it’s almost been a week. I apologize, but this week has been crazy. Some stuff happened that I won’t really talk about, but yeah.

Anyways, I asked what you guys wanted to know about me and a lot of you said that you wanted to hear about the time my ferret went missing while we were camping.

( I can tell this story in Spanish btw)

So a few years back we were camping in Bear Lake and we had taken my ferret Sniffers.
On the day we were leaving to go back home, I told my little brother to watch Sniffers while I cleaned his cage.

Apparently he didn’t hear me because when I was done, Sniffers was gone. We searched everywhere and I started freaking out since the campground we go to is next to a huge road and then a field of cows.

The people who own the camp got out some squeaky toys and drove their golf cart around looking for him.

My dad went to look in the fields and he still has poky’s ( like sharp weeds) in his shoes today.

After we searched the entire place and couldn’t find him anywhere I made my dad promise that if we didn’t find Sniffers I could get another ferret. And then my parents decided to check our trailer one more time.

They tore it all apart and finally found him… in the middle of my parents mattress… asleep.

I hope you guys enjoyed my quick story! Love y’all! -Aspen AKA The Author

My (Epic?) Weekend

Hey  y’all! So today is Mother’s Day, and I just wanted to say how grateful I am for my own mother. She is the kindest, sweetest, person I know who will do anything for our family. And even strangers for that matter. I was having a hard time today after getting some advice/news last night so she came in to cheer me up. And I was being the usual uncooperative brat I am and told her that I didn’t care if she loved me or not. She just proceeded to tickle me, laughing about how she doesn’t get to do it anymore. And then kissed me on the cheek and told me too bad, because she was always going to love me anyway. She’s the greatest.

Speaking of great people, this Friday was my AP European History test and it was LONG. 6 HOURS long. And by the end of it I was exhausted, but 3 fantastic people picked me up for our plans! My mom (again), my best friend Lauren, and her mom. We went and got pedicures (I got this really cool copper color with a black flower), ate dinner at Applebees, and saw Captain America Civil War. I had TONS of fun.

Then on Saturday I went to my brothers basketball game, Bex’s birthday party (we got in the hot tub and it felt GREAT), and then went to my dad’s cousin’s wedding reception. There we talked to one of his relatives, who is SO SO kind. She has fibromyalgia and was talking to my parents about my pain and symptoms and it sounds like that’s what I have. We’d already talked to a neurologist who said that it might be a possibility so the next step would be going to see rheumatologist.

I’ve kind of been in a bad mood ever since because there isn’t a cure for it, and there hasn’t been much research done. I guess I’ll be doing a lot of that from now on. Apparently my parents have been too.

ALSO something sort of exciting, I start training for Little Red officially this week! If you don’t know, Little Red is the all women’s bike race I do that raises money for breast and ovarian cancer. It’s sooo much fun and I was so proud of myself for riding 100 miles last year. I can’t wait to see what this year brings. Wish me luck!

Love y’all so much! -Aspen AKA The Author

My Blogging Twin is 16?!

Hey y’all! Well, it is April 27th… AKA Liv’s birthday! Make sure to go send her quick birthday wish on her blog!

I just wanted to say how grateful I am for her, and talk about how amazing she is. I love you Livvi! I hope you’re having a great day, and that turning 16 is as magical as you hoped it would be.

Now that I’m 16, it’s actually a bit different. I hope you know that I’ll be right here to help with anything you need. You are so much stronger than you think. Stop doubting yourself. All you need… is you. There’s no such thing as good enough. So work until what you have makes you happy.

You truly are an inspiration. I love you and Happy Sweet 16!

The Only Thing I Can Think About Right Now

Hey y’all! So I am extremely stressing out because of school right now. I am failing math and have been doing homework literally all weekend long. It’s still not done and this is so ridiculous. As I mentioned before, my phone also broke so that’s been stressful too. Hopefully we can see if it can get fixed tomorrow.

And as of right now I just wanted to write. I was going to rant but that gave me even more of a headache, so I’m going to write about the only thing I can think about this isn’t making me freak out.

SPRING BREAK!! My Spring Break is on Thursday and my family and I are going down to Kanab to spend the weekend at my grammie’s house! My aunt Heather and cousin Aliyah are going too!

Just to give y’all a sneak peek of what it will be like I thought I’d compile some stuff about what it looks like and how my trip will go!

First, we’ll drive three hours down south to the warmer weather!

During this time, I take my motion sickness medication, sleep, listen to music, text my friends, and color!

The most noticeable thing down there, is the gorgeous scenery.

This is the main street in Kanab that Aliyah and I have walked many, many times.

Then we just hang out and tell stories on the couch. My grandma’s house is right next to a red rock cliff so we sit in the sun with our family and laugh about stories we’ve never heard before.

I love learning more about my family, especially since my grandpa died when I was 7 months old.

We hold and play with the bunnies! Yes, we get to spend Easter with bunnies. It’s epic.

We also go driving around the cliffs in the SIDE BY SIDE. It’s basically a mix between a mini jeep and a four-wheeler and it’s soooo fun.

side by side.png

Depending on how warm it is, we usually go to visit the Pink Coral Sand Dunes.

And that’s all I can think of! Love y’all and hope you’ve had a good day! Comment down below what you’re spring break plans are.
